Guide to the New BTS ARMY Bomb Light Stick: VER.4

BigHit has officially announced the release of the BTS OFFICIAL LIGHT STICK VER. 4. This new version arrives nearly six years after the Special Edition (SE), bringing a sleek design and major technical upgrades to ARMY’s favorite concert accessory. Whether you’re gearing up for the ARIRANG World Tour or just want to upgrade your collection, here is everything you need to know about the new light stick and how to get your hands on one.

Note: All technical details and timelines are provided per the Weverse BTS Light Stick VER. 4 official release notice.

What’s New with VER. 4?

The VER. 4 isn't just a cosmetic update; it’s a total overhaul of how the light stick interacts with the concert environment.

  • Advanced Wireless Control: The new system allows for a wider range of colors and smoother gradients. The light stick is now divided into different "zones," meaning the stage lighting can create even more sophisticated patterns across the stadium.

  • Pairing Confidence: Before the show starts, your light stick will light up in sync with those around you to let you know it’s paired correctly.

  • New App: The updated app includes a venue map to find pairing booths, a "Concert History" log to track which shows you've attended, and "Self Mode" so you can use it as a mood lamp at home.

  • Color Shaking: A new feature allows you to change the color randomly just by shaking the light stick!

Did They Say Accessories?!

While we’re waiting for full product information, the official announcement and teaser videos have already given us a glimpse of the new modular design:

  • The Cradle: The VER. 4 notice mentions a “CRADLE” and the ability for the VER. 4 to act as a mood lamp at home, which indicates the cradle includes charging and/or power capabilities.

  • Interchangeable Parts: The promo video features new "PARTS" attachments for the top of the dome, including stylized BTS and ARMY logos.

  • Yet to Come?: The mention of "compatible accessories" suggests BigHit may release additional parts in the future, which we’ve seen for other groups under HYBE.

The Battery Question: Is it Rechargeable?

One of the biggest questions ARMY has is whether we’re finally moving away from disposable AAAs.

  • The Current Standard: Recent HYBE light sticks ship with a standard AAA battery tray but are designed to support the HYBE Official Rechargeable Battery as an optional add-on.

  • Why Not Built-In Rechargeable?: We anticipate the VER. 4 will follow this modular path. While a built-in lithium-ion core is a dream for many, keeping the rechargeable element optional is a strategic choice. Since airlines and certain concert venues have limitations on rechargeable lithium batteries, using standard single-use batteries is a safer and more flexible setup for ARMY who travel to concerts.

  • When We’ll Find Out: We expect 100% confirmation on whether the VER. 4 utilizes single-use batteries, a new proprietary battery, or the existing HYBE universal rechargeable battery when the sales notice drops tomorrow, February 6, at 11:00 AM KST.

The ‘Sunset’ Date for Older Versions

It is important to note that a transition period is coming. If you plan on attending BTS concerts in the second half of 2026, you will need the VER. 4 to participate in the synchronized light show.

  • Until May 28, 2026 (Las Vegas): VER. 3, SE, and VER. 4 will all support wireless control.

  • From June 12, 2026 (Busan) onwards: Wireless control will only be supported on VER. 4.

While the new technology is exciting, we want to make one thing clear—prior versions of the ARMY Bomb, including the Special Edition (SE), will still glow! The main difference is that they will no longer sync or change colors automatically with the stadium’s wireless lighting system. Seeing a mix of light stick versions is very common at concerts, so please don’t feel pressured or embarrassed if you aren’t able to secure a VER. 4 in time for your show.

ARMY Bomb Light Stick FAQs

  • A: Official sales details for the ARMY Bomb Light Stick VER.4 will be announced on Weverse on Friday, February 6 @ 11:00 AM KST, which is Thursday, February 5 @ 9:00 PM EST. It isn't confirmed whether the light stick will be immediately available for pre-order or if the notice will simply provide the upcoming schedule and pricing. We recommend having your Weverse Shop app updated and your payment methods saved just in case!

  • A: We don’t know yet. We expect this information to be included in the sales announcement on February 6, 2026 @ 11 AM KST. As a point of reference: the more recently released TXT light stick with similar features costs $64, or about $75 + sales tax for shipping within the US.

  • A: We strongly recommend buying only through Weverse Shop or official concert merch booths. We do not recommend buying from resellers on eBay or Amazon. These are often counterfeit and will not sync with the wireless systems at the venue, meaning your light stick won't change colors with the rest of the ARMY.

  • A: Don’t panic! You can buy your light stick at the concert venue. They usually have plenty of stock. VIP Perk: If you know someone with a VIP ticket, they have early access to merch and a separate line—ask if they can pick one up for you!

  • A: You can use it as a collectible or in "Self Mode," but it will no longer sync with the wireless concert lighting design for any concerts held after June 12, 2026.
